The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features numerous engaging side quests that send players across both the surface and sky realms of Hyrule. Among these, the A Wife Wafted Away quest stands out as an intriguing search for a missing Zora villager named Mei. Following key environmental clues will lead Link directly to her hidden fishing spot in the clouds.
Starting the Quest in Zora's Domain
To begin this quest, travel to Zora's Domain and locate a worried Zora named Fronk. He explains that his wife Mei departed for a fishing trip and has not returned for a long time. Listening closely to his dialogue provides crucial direction about her mysterious destination towards floating lands.
Fronk mentions that Mei crossed a bridge in the eastern portion of the domain while singing about floating places. This riddle suggests that Mei has traveled beyond the surface region into the sky archipelago. Preparing your stamina or unlocking nearby fast travel points will make the upcoming ascent much easier.
Ascending to the Wellspring Island Region
Reaching Mei requires traveling to the sky islands situated directly above the Lanayru region. Players can use a nearby Skyview Tower or fast travel to shrines located near Wellspring Island. Navigating these low-gravity islands allows Link to cover vast distances using his paraglider.
Scan the surrounding sky islands carefully for signs of life or campfire smoke rising from a distance. The smoke pillar acts as a reliable beacon pointing directly toward Mei's temporary campsite. Gliding down to this specific floating island reveals a small pool where she is peacefully fishing.
Reuniting Mei and Fronk for Rewards
Approach Mei near the pool and speak with her to trigger a conversation about her husband's concern. She will realize how much time has passed and express her intention to return home immediately. This interaction updates your quest journal and prompts you to return to the surface.
Fast travel back to Zora's Domain and speak with Fronk once again to conclude the assignment. He will express his deep gratitude and grant Link a helpful reward for reuniting the couple. Completing this quest not only clears your log but also highlights the wonderful verticality of Hyrule's world design.
