Disney Dreamlight Valley features various character storylines that allow players to build deep friendships while restoring order to the magical realm. One crucial mission from Mother Gothel is the Shine A Light quest, which tasks players with crafting magical light sources and exploring ancient secrets. Completing this objective helps players advance their relationship with her while unlocking key story progression.
Prerequisites for Unlocking the Quest
Before initiating this quest, players must meet a couple of initial requirements within their valley. First, you need to reach Friendship Level 4 with Mother Gothel to unlock this milestone. Additionally, you must complete her preceding quest, My Kingdom For A Scroll, before she will offer this new assignment.
Once both prerequisites are fulfilled, speak directly with Mother Gothel to receive your instructions. She will ask for your assistance in creating special fixtures known as Sunlight Torches. Gathering the required components will take a bit of exploration across multiple biomes.
Gathering Crafting Materials and Building Torches
To craft the three Sunlight Torches, you will need to collect a sizable list of raw ingredients. The recipe requires 45 Softwood, 60 Fibers, 3 Garnets, 3 Aquamarines, and 3 Citrines. Softwood can be easily gathered from the ground in early biomes like the Plaza and Peaceful Meadow.
Fibers are crafted at any crafting station using Seaweed, which is obtained through fishing in open water outside of active ripples. Gems like Garnets, Aquamarines, and Citrines can be mined from rock spots located in their respective biomes. Once all items are collected, head to a crafting bench under the Furniture tab to create the 3 Sunlight Torches.
Exploring the Mystical Cave on Dazzle Beach
After crafting the items and speaking with Mother Gothel, your next destination is Dazzle Beach. Head over to the Mystical Cave located along the eastern side of the beach and head down to the bottom level. There you will discover three pedestals ready to accept the newly forged light sources.
Interact with each pedestal to place a Sunlight Torch onto its corresponding support. Placing all three torches causes glowing symbols to appear across the ancient stone walls. Equipping your camera tool, take a clear photo of these illuminated markings to secure the needed evidence.
Completing the Quest and Claiming Rewards
With the photograph captured, return to Mother Gothel to deliver your report and finish the mission. Completing this task grants players 350 Friendship Experience points to strengthen your bond with her. It also sets the stage for the subsequent questline involving the search for Sunstone Fragments.
